Services and Specialties
We’re proud to provide therapy and counseling to individuals, couples, and families in Northeast Ohio.
Individual Therapy and Counseling:
We provide talk therapy (both in person and virtually) with licensed mental health clinicians. Our practitioners foster safe, supportive, and confidential environments to affirm, treat, and enlighten our clients through culturally-competent techniques
School based Counseling:
To directly help our community, KSBH collaborates with local schools to encourage early identification and treatment of mental health issues. We serve K-12 students and connect them with a psychological provider or a case manager to address behavioral, emotional, or social barriers to educational success.
Psychological Evaluations:
Our psychologists also administer evaluations to help determine the cause of mental health disorders, provide accurate diagnoses, and establish recommendations for an appropriate course of treatment (Adult and child autism testing, Child and Adult ADHD testing, court evaluations, psychological evaluations, eating disorder evaluations, diagnostic clarification.)
Case Management Community Support Services:
Our case managers work directly with the local community to connect clients with resources to decrease psychosocial stressors. Case managers serve as both liaisons and advocates for their communities.
Mental Health Assessments:
KSBH offers comprehensive psychological assessments by licensed psychologists, including a clinical interview, behavioral observation, and screening measures. This assessment is the first stage of the treatment process and is designed to diagnose mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and traumatic stress disorders.
Performance Coaching:
In collaboration with LAVA Athletics, our performance coaches support student athletes of all ages, including at the collegiate level. We encourage athletes by supporting educational development and community involvement to help create well-rounded individuals.
Couples and Family Therapy:
We help families and partners at any stage of their relationship can schedule relationship counseling with a KSBH provider. We help partners and families identify and address conflicts and misunderstandings to strengthen communication and relationships.
Psychiatry
Along with psychological services like talk therapy, we provide psychiatric care. Our nurse practitioners are trained to diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe appropriate medications. We apply our socio-cultural approach to pharmacotherapy, prioritizing holistic care to manage symptoms of mental health.
About Our Company
Healing through the virtues of Ma’at
Our founders believe in following the virtues of the ancient Egyptian goddess Ma’at. According to Egyptian texts, Ma’at is the embodiment of spiritual and social balance. By following these seven virtues in our work and practice, we remain aligned with our company goals
the ability to discern the real from the unreal. Kindred Spirit advocates for self-knowledge and rejecting anti-Black rhetoric.
Truth
intentional arrangement of space and goals. Kindred Spirit utilizes Afrocentric methods to replace outdated structures and systems that harm our community.
Order
understanding that what goes around comes around. By pouring into the community, we are pouring into ourselves.
Reciprocity
the state of equity for all beings in the universe. We believe in creating an even playing field for underserved communities.
Justice
embodying authentic expression. Our team knows that we’re stronger as a unit; when we’re all working authentically, no part is bigger than the whole.
Harmony
achieving alignment. When we view mental health holistically and with a culturally informed perspective, we align with our goals for both our company and the collective.
Balance
doing what’s right in accordance with our values. We’re committed to staying true to our values to ensure we provide the highest level of care.
Propriety
Rooted in Truth.
Guided by Wisdom.
At Kindred Spirit, we specialize in culturally informed care grounded in community support and psychological services. Traditional therapy too often overlooks systemic barriers like racial biases and socioeconomic factors when treating patients. Our Behavioral Health Center and non-profit affirm our clients’ cultural and ethnic backgrounds while providing the highest level of care, as recognized by the Ohio Department of Health. We seek to liberate our community from within.
But we’re more than a behavioral health clinic:
We’re also community builders and support facilitators. We partner with courts, schools, and other like-minded organizations to assist our people at all levels. We aim to alleviate social determinants of health, whether through our transportation initiative or by connecting people with resources for food and safe shelter.

Redefining Healing.
Through our non-profit, we aim to ensure everyone has access to the resources needed for a healthy life by reducing social determinants of health and creating a supportive environment for our network.
We’re proud to provide therapy and counseling to individuals, couples, and families in Northeast Ohio. We utilize a culturally-informed framework to treat our patients and community.
Kindred Optimal is an immersive coaching experience led by KSBH’s Dr. Tania S. Lodge.
The training series is based on the groundbreaking framework of Dr. Linda James Myers’ Optimal Conception Theory and combines the joint research of Dr. Lodge and Dr. Myers. Trainees will learn how to treat patients impacted by forms of systemic oppression.
Community Partnerships:
Kindred Spirit is proudly in partnership with multiple organizations in the community. We work with schools and courts as a part of our mission to be more than just a behavioral health clinic. We help people in need of mental health assessments and support in legal situations. As a proud partner with various public school districts, we help the younger generation maintain a healthy mind, body, and spirit as they pursue their education.
